SINDAROV Wins, Candidates 2026

History made, As Uzbekistan's GM Javokhir Sindarov wins the FIDE Candidates 2026 and will take the home Cash prize of €70,000 (plus performance bonuses) . The 20 - years old GM has won the title on 14th of April 2026 following his draw against Anish Giri with a round to spare in Round 13.

His performance in Cyprus has been nothing short of legendary as he remain unbeaten throughout the events in 13 Rounds and scored 9.5 Points in total which also included a Four games winning streak.

With the victory in Candidates 2026, Sindarov is now an Official Contender of World Championship 2026 and will challenge the Gukkesh Dommaraju later this year .

After 2006, it's the first time that two GM with the same ages will battle for the crown in the next event.
