Success for GCA at HCA's 1st Classical Tournament
28 May 2026
While everyone was busy wrapping up the year, Magnus Carlsen was in Doha, Qatar to prove why the throne is still his. 19 Rounds of Blitz are enough to frustrate anyone but the World Champion proved himself again and secured his second win following Rapid Championship 2025 when the stakes were highest.
Just the next day of Rapid Championship Magnus Carlsen stepped back into the Arena for 19 Rounds of Blitz. He didn't just survive those rounds but thrived in each one of them. It wasn’t just about the Time Control of 3+ 2 but also about the mental stamina and sharpness required to compete against such a huge number of GrandMasters and Young Players .
The final match against Nodirbek Abdusattorov was the spotlight of the event. Watching the leading Champion navigate the 3+2 is like watching a grand conductor lead an orchestra. Everything fell at the right place with the clock ticking side by side. The Legendary Champion won 2.5 - 1.5. ultimately proving that why he is the GOAT in the Chess World.
For every Chess player around the world, The Norwegian Grandmaster in Doha Qatar was a lesson in resilience which can make any ordinary person a superhuman. He doesn’t just play Chess, he lives it.
Congratulations to the Maestro for his victory!
