Genesis Chess Academy Brings Chess to Tabeer Homes with Remarkable First Tournament

In a heartwarming initiative, Genesis Chess Academy began training at Tabeer Homes in January 2025, bringing the joy and discipline of chess to children at the orphanage. Under the guidance of Ammad Elahi, the head trainer of the program, every child at Tabeer Homes has had the opportunity to learn and grow in the game of chess.

The academy has set up two separate training groups, senior and junior, to cater to the diverse skill levels of the kids. Starting from the very basics, the children quickly developed a passion for chess, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm and engagement right from day one.

Ammad Elahi, whose dedication and commitment have been the cornerstone of the program’s success, has effectively managed the chess training sessions. His patience and personalized approach have ensured that each child, regardless of their background or skill level, receives equal attention and support. The results of his hard work have already begun to shine, with many of the children competing in their very first chess tournament.

The tournament was held on 20th of September 2025, in a 7-round Swiss format with Rapid time control (10+5), saw the kids showcase their newfound skills and passion for the game.

Thanks to the vision and leadership of Rao Mujtaba Alam, the director who initiated this partnership, and the assistance of skilled coaches Tayyab Ali, Waleed, and Moutaz Anwar, the children achieved impressive results. Notable top performers from the junior category included Muhammad Rizwan and Farhan Khan, both with 6 points, while Muhammad Talha led the way with 7 points, Muhammad Arfeen earned 6 points, and Abdullah SR finished with 5 points. As a special reward, the top 8 performers from each category will be visiting Our In-House Chess Academy “Genesis House of Chess GHOC” for a day full of chess activities.

This chess program, entirely funded by Genesis Chess Academy, is a shining example of how charity and education can work together to create lasting impact in the lives of children.
