When we think of chess, we usually consider it as a game where two people silently moving different pieces on a checkered board but what we don’t know is there is much more going on than what is seen by our eyes, especially when it comes to Kids, it’s a priceless ground for development of essential life skills in kids. The fruits of chess are not limited to the victory and the Chess board itself, it’s more than that in the game itself – ensuring the enhancing of cognitive skills, sharp thinking abilities and stronger bond with others are some examples how this game is more than a necessity especially in today's world where the kids are unable to focus in academics and other aspects of life, Chess will help them learning through play and build focus

One of the initial fruits of chess for kid is development of their strategic thinking skills because for kids, it’s not just a board of 64 squares where they are just moving the pieces but a playground for their expanding brains. Every move in the Chess demands full consideration before actually moving the piece and the kids suddenly start thinking about the consequences before moving any piece and this skill of cautiously thinking before moving will later on help them in their academics directly later and also help them in facing other challenging and real-life situations.
Chess game required full attention of young players for an extended period of time from the start of game to the end game in order to understand the opponents move and the strategy for behind it. While playing game of chess, kids need to think about their own moves independently without getting distracted and simultaneously think about the opponent’s move. This deep mental engagement trains them to be attentive for a longer period of time not just in game but during the other aspects of life like school work etc. Through this experience, children learn the value of taking their time, carefully evaluating options, and planning ahead. This cultivates a habit of thoughtful attention to detail.
As kids play this game again and again, they begin to realize the tactics behind the opponents move and the strategic principles. They gain an understanding of the opponent's strategy by opponent's moves and analyze their future actions. The nurturing of Logical reasoning and analyzing the pattern are crucial skills in academic subjects like mathematics, science and other important decision making.
Winning and Losing is a part of the game and not every game ends with a victory. Chess helps kids to win with grace and lose with courage. They analyze their mistakes easily that where they went wrong and come back with a bang without losing hope with a growth mindset of doing better than before. This overall process fosters growth mindset and resilience and helps them a lot beyond the checkered board in practical life.
As we know that Chess is a game where the player needs to remember their past moves and the position of different moves, planning ahead and analyze the possible the outcomes of different moves, this mental exercise enhances their ability to recall the information in their minds, creating visual images which helps them in various aspects of life.
In conclusion, Chess is a game which has an abundance of fruits for kids which are extremely beneficial for them. It’s a game that develops their strategic thinking, decision making skills and many more by just playing a game. By introducing this ancient game - Chess to kids, we are not only teaching them how to move pawns and knights, we are equipping them with the assets that will help them throughout their lives. So, let’s introduce Chess to these young champions and let the sweet fruits of chess nourish the minds of the next generation.
